About
The Dr. Janie Gooden Greenleaf Scholarship was established to honor the remarkable life and legacy of a devoted educator, leader, and servant of God. Born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Dr. Greenleaf dedicated her life to advancing education, advocating for women and girls, and strengthening her community through faith and service. Her career spanned decades, including groundbreaking leadership roles in Florida’s higher education system, public schools, and civic organizations. A trailblazer, she became the first Black Vice President of Human Resources at Florida International University and went on to champion accountability, professional development, and equal opportunity for countless educators and students across the state.
This scholarship carries forward her legacy by supporting students—especially those choosing to attend Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs)—who embody her values of perseverance, scholarship, leadership, and faith. Through this work, Dr. Greenleaf’s dedication to opening doors of opportunity continues to inspire and equip the next generation.

We believe all women can embrace who they are,
can define their future, and can change the world.
Our Mission

Rooted in her legacy as an educator, advocate, and woman of faith, the scholarship seeks to empower future leaders to pursue higher education and create lasting impact in their communities.
